GOAL: To create a classroom environment which promotes students’ academic, personal, social and emotional growth while establishing a cooperative partnership between school and home.
AGENDA BOOKS: On the first day of school, your child will be issued an agenda book and students are expected to keep this with them daily and record assignments for their CORE SUBJECTS in their agenda EVERY DAY. Checking your student’s agenda book is a good way to follow up on their homework and any classwork assignments that need to be completed. Example: Math HW is written in the agenda for the week every Monday! The agenda is also a weekly grade in Learning Strategies for August through December. In addition, students carry their DISCIPLINE CARD in the front section of their agenda. Please check their agenda for updates!
FOCUS: PLEASE SIGN UP FOR FOCUS so that you can access your student's grades, homework and missing assignments. This will encourage students to learn how to track their academic achievement independently. Students already have access to FOCUS and all of the online tools that they will need in order to be sccessful in 8th grade. FOCUS continues into high school and should become a habit for academic success.
ASSIGNMENTS:
When completing assignments, papers should be neatly done and include their FULL NAME, DATE, PERIOD # and TITLE of assignment. Assignments should be neat and ONLY PENCIL FOR MATH. Students are responsible for making up any work from being absent in any of their classes. Extended time may be an accommodation used in the classroom as a support, but does not mean endless time. Extended time means "time and a half." Students should be responsible in working with their teachers and myself if extended time is needed. It is not always assumed.
